| Subjunctive: Introduction |
| According to the grammar books, the subjunctive is basically
found with three different meanings: |
| |
|
| |
1. Epistemic. In this meaning the subjunctive is similar
in meaning to the future indicative and is found in main, conditional
and subordinate clauses. |
| |
2. Hortative. In main clauses, the subjunctive is used
as the first person imperative. |
| |
3. Negative directive. With μή, the aorist subjunctive
is used as the second person subjunctive. |
